BookMark ("we", "our", or "the app") is published by Colin O'Brien. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we use it.
What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name (first name only, provided by you or via Sign in with Apple)
- Email address (provided by you or via Sign in with Apple, which may provide a private relay address)
- Reading progress (which articles and books you've read and your position in them)
- Speed test results (your reading speed and comprehension scores)
- Training progress (exercise levels and scores)
- Device information (device type and name, for device management purposes)
- Subscription status (whether you have an active Pro subscription)
How We Use Your Data
- To personalize your experience (greeting you by name, restoring your reading position)
- To sync your progress across devices
- To manage your subscription and device access
- To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with encryption at rest and in transit. Your reading content (articles, books) is stored locally on your device.
Third-Party Services
- Apple Sign In for authentication
- Supabase for cloud data storage
- Project Gutenberg for free public domain book downloads
- Feedly for RSS feed discovery (search queries only, no personal data shared)
We do not use any advertising SDKs or analytics trackers.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal data to anyone
- We do not share your data with advertisers
- We do not track your location
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. If you sign out, your device data is cleared. You can request deletion of all your cloud data by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
BookMark does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
